Metro United Way in Louisville Partners with Resilia for Flagship Black L.O.V.E. Philanthropic Partnership

Initiative to focus on strengthening organizations serving and led by Black leaders

New Orleans, LA. - Metro United Way in Louisville, Kentucky is partnering with Resilia to  advance their flagship Black L.O.V.E. Philanthropic Partnership (BLPP). Black L.O.V.E seeks to advance a culture of philanthropy rooted in generosity, justice, and shared accountability.

Based on BMe Community’s Black L.O.V.E. agenda, the Black L.O.V.E. (Live. Own. Vote. Excel.) Philanthropic Partnership utilizes strategic guidance and leadership of Black leaders and philanthropic partners. The structure provides a collaborative opportunity to pool philanthropic resources and collective thought leadership to invest in the seven core focus areas recommended by the Black Social Change Funders Network: Civic Engagement & Political power, Organizing & People Power, Policy Advocacy & System Reform, Economic Development & Economic Power, Research & Intellectual Power, Communications/ Narrative & Social Power, and Leadership Development & Strategic Convenings.

Each of these seven areas align with Resilia’s Funder Program, a Trust-based capacity building program aimed at strengthening BIPOC-led/serving nonprofits in a manner that meets them where they are. Through a combination of a nonprofit-first online platform, personalized nonprofit coaching and peer-to-peer learning, the Resilia Funder Program will enable BLPP applicants and grantees to build mission-facing and back-office capacity for long term sustainability. Metro United Way’s cohort will also have unlimited access to Resilia’s team of expert coaches, who bring decades of nonprofit experience and lived experiences related to Equity-centric work.

“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Resilia and offer each BLPP applicant and grantee capacity building in many areas that they have told us that they need help,” says Adria Johnson, President and CEO at Metro United Way. “In addition, other BIPOC-led organizations funded by the Humana Foundation, Community Foundation of Louisville and the Office of Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods will receive coaching, training and capacity-building from Resilia. This highlights our commitment to Black leaders leading innovative movements to create positive, sustainable change in our seven-county region.”

“Resilia’s work has always been centered on the nonprofits who are driving change in the communities that need it most, and we are thrilled to continue to build on this,” says Resilia CEO and Founder Sevetri Wilson. “Metro United Way’s new Black L.O.V.E agenda advances change by listening to their community and deploying resources, through Resilia, that address real on-the-ground needs.”

Through the partnership, Metro United Way has also joined Resilia’s flagship ELEVATE initiative, a first of its kind national Funders collaborative comprising 12 Funders and aimed at elevating the capacity and voices of BIPOC-led and BIPOC-serving grassroots organizations throughout the country.
